Spring at Feathers and Fingerprints!

Spring time around here usually means more time outside, a busy schedule, and this year, hatching baby ducks! The kids had so much fun checking on the eggs every day and watching as the ducklings began to pip and hatch. For a couple days the ducklings stayed at our house and followed the girls around. Now they are living at hubby's work where they will join his education program. Here are a few pictures of the ducklings in the first few days after hatching. Enjoy!

My Inspiration

Why the name Feathers and Fingerprints?  I think the pictures will explain!  :)

Yes that is a baby falcon in the pictures!  He's been staying with us for a few weeks.  Yesterday he jumped out of his box and followed us around.  I think he wants to play!  The girls were quite entertained by the baby bird trying to play with their toys.

A Feathery Problem and Solution

My husband has to work today so I thought I would surprise him with a little something and try to solve a feathery problem in the kitchen.  He often prepares food for his birds over the trash can next to the sink.  I think the picture says it all.

 A fat tin can will be perfect for those meat scissors, and a falcon silhouette is the prefect way to keep them separated from our other scissors.

 I covered the whole area with tape and traced my falcon design.

 I cut the design and carefully peeled it off.

 A quick hit of black spray paint...

 And the tin is finished!  Yuck factor gone!
